The majority of citizens from a string of European countries want the UK to remain in the European Union, according to a major poll released in French media on Friday – including 55 per cent of Britons who took part. The country most in favour by far was Spain, with 76 per cent of those questioned hoping the UK will not leave the bloc. Second came Italy on 67 per cent, followed by Germany on 65 per cent. Some 55 per cent of Britons wish to remain, according to the poll – a higher number than the French, only 54 per cent of whom think Britain’s inclusion in the EU as desirable.
“The majority of British (65%) who were intending to buy a house in France prior to Brexit do not seem to have changed their minds.”
