The 2017 Tour de France is the 104th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling’s Grand Tours. The 3,540 km-long race commenced with an individual time trial in Düsseldorf, Germany on 1 July, and will conclude with the Champs-Élysées stage in Paris on 23 July. A total of 198 riders from 22 teams entered the race. Participation expanded from a primarily French field, as riders from all over the world began to participate in the race each year. The Tour is a UCI World Tour event, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI WorldTeams, with the exception of the teams that the organizers invite.
“If you have a spare few million euros lying around, you could be there, watching the riders go by, with a glass of St. Emilion in hand.”
