Investors that bank on the success of the French tourism industry will be happy to learn that in 2016, France ranked as the world’s top tourism destination. The country’s total number of foreign visitors increased to 83 million, surpassing Spain and the United States. Interestingly, the number of Asian visitors in particular rose. When Asian tourists were polled as to why they chose France as their vacation location, they said the well-known cuisine and high level of hotel services were the main factors. Tourism continues to be one of the greatest assets to the French economy. It represents about 7.4% of France’s Gross Domestic Product and creates approximately 2 million jobs each year.
